Welcome Our New Tamarindo President: Holly Fuller

myckena

Hello! My name is Holly Fuller and I was recently elected to serve as the President within the Tamarindo Foundation’s Board of Directors. I was first introduced to the Tamarindo Community in 2002 when I spent a formative two months as a Summer Intern. My heart was so touched and filled by the experience that I continuously sought opportunities to be involved with the Tamarindo Community. Though I went as the “volunteer” to give, I received much more – lifelong friendships, learning about historical and present-day social injustices, countless tortillas, pupusas, and shared Stone Soup, many early Sunday mornings doing service work around Guarjila, and Friday nights focused on community and re-grounding ourselves in the Plan de Trabajo which is the St. Francis of Assisi prayer.

One of the lines in the St. Francis prayer, “it is in giving that we receive,” is one of the foundations of the Tamarindo Community’s mission. I have been blessed to give to the Tamarindo Community as a volunteer, as a guest with immersion trips, as a friend, and as a monthly recurring donor but have received so, so much more.

This year, the Tamarindo Foundation has been blessed with a very generous match donation of $50,000 which is an incredible opportunity to double your donation! As we enter into the last part of 2023 and a few weeks before Giving Tuesday, I would invite you to give through saying prayers, starting or increasing your monthly recurring donation, giving a one-time donation, sharing about the Summer Intern program with someone who may be interested, or learning more about the social injustices in El Salvador.

Thank you for your continued support of the Tamarindo Community and Foundation! Let us all be inspired over the next few months to live out the line “it is in giving that we receive.”

MESSAGE FROM OUR FOUNDER:

Here at home in El Salvador, we are often portrayed as a violent country living in apocalyptic times. Where El Salvador is mentioned, we only read about murder, gang violence, corruption, caravans of migrants arriving at the US southern border and now bitcoin.

I have now worked at Tamarindo for almost 40 years and everyday I am graced to be a part of a different story. The Tamarindo we have built together is simply a beautiful journey of hard working people that care, a story about good people of faith investing in people who invested in themselves.
